Match Prediction – Surrey v Northamptonshire

Match Details:

Date: Wednesday, 3rd September 2025.

Venue: Kennington Oval, London.

Start Time: 6:30 PM BST

Current Form:

Surrey:

The London county ended their season topping the South Group on NRR after they won 11 out of their 14 games, joint with Somerset, who ended second. They will be gunning to win another Vitality Blast title.

A magnificent season with the bat for Will Jacks has been the key to their success, Jacks will be soaring on confidence coming into this game on the back of a win with the Oval Invincibles too.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks:

After a brilliant start to their season, the Northamptonshire Steelbacks scraped their way through into the Quarter Final with eight wins and six losses in their 14 games this season. With the break for the Hundred over, the Steelbacks would want to regroup and find their form they had in the early part of the season.

Ben Sanderson was brilliant with the ball in the first half, leading the job of taking wickets, before George Scrimshaw picked up the slack in the second half of the season, but it has been a joint effort from their battin that stands out with six batters scoring over 200 runs.

Players to Watch:

Surrey:

Will Jacks – leading the mantle of run-scoring for his home county, Will Jacks has scored 504 runs this season at 50.4, striking at 164.7 and has crossed fifty in five out of his ten innings, converting one of them into a hundred. He has also managed to chip in with the ball taking seven wickets at 22.6.

Sam Curran – not far off from winning the MVP award in the Hundred, Sam Curran comes back as captain in great batting and bowling form, in the Blast this season, he has already taken 21 wickets at 16.4 and struck 296 runs while going at 136.

Chris Jordan – Jordan has tried his best to contribute everywhere, with eight catches this season, 81 runs at a strike rate of 150 and he has taken 17 wickets in just 40.2 overs, averaging 17.3 after bowling in the tougher overs.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks:

George Scrimshaw – the quick has taken ten wickets in his last six games for the Steelbacks, averaging 23.5 and striking once every 13 balls, and is just one wicket away from equalling teammate Ben Sanderson this season.

David Willey – the captain has been a machine this season, with 452 runs at 32.3 while striking at 140.4, combined with 19 wickets at 23.15 and Willey has taken 16 catches this season.

Saif Zaib – while not the highest run-scorer by a decent margin, Zaib has brought in a much needed finishing kick into this side, with 282 runs at 31.33, while striking at a quick 160.2.

Head-to-Head (Last 5 Matches):

The Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Surrey have not had to face off against each other a lot, with just one previous meeting in 2013, which the Steelbacks won by 102 runs, but Surrey will come into this game as favourites on the back of a brilliant group stage.
