EastEnders fans have shared their fears that a soap legend has been killed in the BBC soap’s shooting cliffhanger as Kat and Zoe Slater are ‘too obvious’.
Fans knew it was going to be a manic week on Albert Square, with Michelle Ryan’s Zoe finally returning after 20 years.
Despite Zoe turning up in London back in June, the character didn’t set foot in Walford due to not wanting to see her mum Kat.
Teasing that she’s done something bad, Zoe was tricked into returning to her old home by her brother Tommy Moon, who lied and said he’d steal his dad Alfie’s credit card for her.
After locking eyes the previous night, fans finally got to see Zoe and Kat onscreen together again in scenes aired on Tuesday (September 2).
It wasn’t plane sailing for the pair in spite of Kat being delighted to see Zoe, who wanted to get her money and leave.
Following an awkward glance at her former fiancée Anthony Trueman in the Queen Vic, Zoe made her way upstairs as Kat made excuses for her to stay.

Highlighting the issues she had with her upbringing, Zoe was stopped by Big Mo on the pub’s stairs, who gave her a big hug and convinced her to have dinner with the family.
Looking like Slaters of the 2000s, the family’s time together was cut short when social services arrived for an appointment about how Tommy is keeping.
Zoe’s mood changed when she learned that Kat hit Tommy back when he was previously violent with her, saying ‘something things never change’.
Having a heart to heart in the bedroom, Zoe told her mum she wished she had an abortion after getting pregnant when her uncle Harry assaulted her as a teenager.
Finally getting on the same positive wavelength outside, with Zoe once again teasing her secret, a gun went off as Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati fought nearby.
Drug dealer Ravi tracked down his missing gun earlier in the episode, leading to him and policeman Jack fighting on the ground to gain control of it.
Despite the show indicating that it’s Zoe or Kat who got shot, fans on the EastEnders Reddit page believe it’s a different member of the Slater family who got hurt.
@LilNardoDaVinci argued: “I reckon it was Denise who just walked outside hence why Jack and Ravi looked absolutely mortified.”
@Iokastez said: “I think Mo. Kat or Zoe seems too obvious; it was Mo that changed Zoe’s mind about staying for chippy tea and brought her back upstairs. I think if Kat got shot Zoe would leg it again; she’s clearly traumatised and on edge and that might send her back on the run.” @Delicious_Key4521 added: “Guys, I wholeheartedly believe that it’s Mo.She arrived 25 years ago this month, she’s now 89, actress Laila is 80, she has slowly faded out and I think she’s probably ready to leave.”
@TheLilWonder wrote: “I’m going either Denise and that she ran out looking for Jack or it’s Mo, Tommy or but this is a long shot cause he walked out a lot earlier but Howie.” @TheCattorney posted: “To be honest, as much as I love Mo, I would rather this happen than Kat getting shot and Zoe only staying because she feels guilty, rather than a proper promise and a very dramatic and powerful death.”
@FadelessRipley posted: “I hate to say it, but it does make total sense. It’s the Slaters 25th anniversary so it has to be something big for them this year. The spoilers and episode synopsis for coming episodes seems to have the family in turmoil.” @Delicious_Key4521 noted: “It does, and it really could explain Stacey and Freddie’s departure.”
Joining the soap in 2000 along with the rest of the Slaters, Gary Oldman’s sister Laila Morse has played the centre of the iconic soap family for 25 years.
Fans will have to wait and see if Mo was shot as Wednesday’s episode (September 3) is being simulcast on the BBC iPlayer and BBC One at 7.30pm, meaning there’s no early release to avoid spoilers leaking.
