Transfermarkt’s market values are renowned across the world and they’ve been cited by major clubs, players and almost every notable media organisation. Transfermarkt first established market values in 2004 and they provide an indication of how much a player is worth on the open market. Numerous factors are considered with insight from our experts included and players’ valuations are updated several times every year – you can read more about them below!
The total value of clubs’ squads can be ascertained by totalling all their players and this provides fascinating insight on the pecking order in world football. Squad values naturally change after market value updates but they are also adjusted during the transfer window as players arrive and leave. With the transfer window closing on Monday for the majority of the biggest leagues in the world, we’ve analysed which clubs have the most valuable squads.
The 100 most valuable clubs in the world
Real Madrid have the most valuable squad in the world at €1.41 billion, with Los Blancos having four players valued at over €100m – Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde. Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City across the transfer window – June 1st to September 2nd – to become the second most valuable squad in the world at €1.33b. Their squad value increased by €224.5 million (20.4%) this summer after high-profile arrivals, like Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres.
As the graphic above illustrates, Manchester City dropped to third, despite their overall market value increasing by €49.5m. Liverpool were the biggest spenders this summer, investing €294m on new signings and they rose to the fourth most valuable squad in the world, with an increase of €253.7m. Barcelona complete the top five with Chelsea and PSG the two other squads valued at over €1b. Bayern Munich are the most valuable Bundesliga club (€905m) in eight place with Inter Milan (€708m) leading the way in Serie A in 11th. Some of these squad values could adjust slightly until every transfer window closes, but you can keep up to date with the changes to the 100 most valuable clubs below!
