Matt Fisher struck thrice for Surrey Second XI on a rain-shortened day two, where only 28 overs were possible, as Yorkshire closed on 123/6 at Guildford.
The second day of the Second XI Championship game began the same way day one had ended, with rainy weather halting play in Surrey. After taking an early lunch and much of the afternoon session being washed out, Fisher cleaned up Vagadia (17) with a peach of an in-ducker with his fourth ball of the day.
Later in his spell, the Surrey seamer picked up two more wickets in an over, finding the outside edge of Kelly (5) before having Smith (0) caught at mid-wicket.
With the visitors on 43/3, Akhtar and Thompson batted well for a 58-run stand and took Yorkshire past 100, before Nathan Barnwell broke the partnership, having Akhtar (41) caught behind.
Luke Griffiths then removed wicketkeeper Thompson, caught brilliantly by a diving Josh Blake, shortly before the umpires took the teams off the pitch for bad light. The visitors closed the second day on 123/6 after 32 overs.
