samsung galaxy z fold 3 and flip 3

Samsung has updated its software commitment on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, with the two foldables now on a quarterly update schedule, but they aren’t being thrown out altogether.

While newer Samsung Galaxy flagships get 7 years of updates, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 were only promised 3 years of major Android OS updates, and 5 years of security updates. Following that pattern, Samsung is now preparing the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 for their last year of software updates, with the schedule dropping to quarterly versus the monthly schedule they were on before.

On its “Work Scope” page where it details software update schedules, Samsung has moved the Fold 3 and Flip 3 to quarterly.

Briefly, as often happens when Samsung updates this page, the two devices vanished entirely.

This led to some confusion on whether or not updates would continue, but it’s clear that’s not the case both looking at the fact they’re still listed, as well as that dropping support entirely at this point would have been a breach of the promise Samsung previously made. Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 owners can expect around four updates between now and August 2026, when software support will fully end.
