Mystery surrounds a popular dessert chain after several branches closed across the UK over the last week.

Cinnabon UK, which is known for serving an array of cinnamon rolls, hot coffee, fruit coolers, and sweet blended ice drinks, has closed several branches across the country this week, and the website has gone down.

On Friday, September 5, both Cinnabon branches in Greater Manchester were closed. It comes after the closures of the Newcastle and Liverpool stores earlier this week.

The Cinnabon branch in the Trafford Centre only opened last year, and it had people queuing to be the first to enter in March 2024.

However a Trafford Centre spokesperson has told the M.E.N the store has closed down. They said: “We can confirm that Cinnabon at Trafford Centre has closed.”

And a handwritten ‘closed’ sign has been placed in the window of the Deansgate store in the city centre when the M.E.N. visited on Friday lunchtime. The lights inside the store were off during its advertised opening hours.

The Cinnabon UK website is also down, showing an error code which reads: “Error 1000. DNS points to prohibited IP”, rather than loading the site.

Earlier this week, the Liverpool Echo reported that the Cinnabon in Liverpool city centre had abruptly closed its doors after four years of operating within the Central station shopping area.

A note in the window of the Liverpool shop read: “Dear customers. We are sorry to announced that this store will permanently close on 31/08/25. Thank you for your custom over the last four years.”

Similarly this week, the Chronicle Live reported that the Cinnabon branch in Newcastle, which only opened in 2023, had also closed its doors.

A sign on the window read: “We regret to inform you that Cinnabon will be closing its operations on Monday, September 1. On behalf of our entire team, we sincerely thank you for your loyalty and continued support over the years. It has been a pleasure serving you.”

This string of closures only come a year after the Cinnabon branch in Chester also closed its doors.

Cinnabon, founded in 1985, is based on the commercial success of T.J. Cinnamons bakery in Kansas City, Missouri. The chain specialises in decadent dessert rolls, from its signature cinnamon to chocolate Oreo, Biscoff biscuit, and caramel pecan, as well as miniature “cinnachips”.

The M.E.N has contacted Cinnabon for further information but has not recieved a response.
