Derbyshire’s overseas opener, Caleb Jewell, will return to Australia following next week’s Rothesay County Championship fixture against Middlesex, as per a new Cricket Australia (CA) regulation.

CA have introduced a statutory rule confirming that State-contracted players must return in time for the start of the Australian domestic season, meaning several overseas players currently featuring in county cricket will be departing early.

Jewell, who has scored 1,737 all-format runs for Derbyshire this season, will be available for the fixture at Lord’s and has already committed to the Club for the 2026 campaign.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Caleb’s been a fantastic performer for us this summer and a consummate professional. We wish him well for the Australian domestic season and look forward to him joining back up with us next year.”
