The research, conducted by racing experts at OLBG, analysed attendances at the UK’s top racecourses over the last 10 years.
Ascot emerged as the racecourse with the highest average attendance, welcoming more than 500,000 visitors annually.
In total, more than 5.1 million people have visited the racecourse over the past decade, with the Royal Ascot festival attracting more than one million visitors on its own.
Cheltenham came in second place, with more than 400,000 annual visitors, and a total attendance of more than 4.3 million.
York completed the top three, averaging just under 300,000 visitors per year in the last decade.
The study also found although Royal Ascot is the most attended event, Cheltenham Festival has a higher daily average due to its shorter duration.
Meanwhile, the Grand National has seen a decline in attendance of more than 10 per cent since 2022.
