Lexington, KY — On Monday (Sept. 8), the 14-race card at the Red Mile shifts the spotlight to older horses as two $35,000 third-round legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes for older pacers are feature events of the day. Those contests are supported by five $10,000 fifth-round legs of the Kentucky Wildcat Series for freshman male trotters and pacers.

Dancin Champion pursues three-race win streak

A veteran on the Kentucky Sire Stakes trail throughout his three-year career, Dancin Champion and Todd McCarthy make their Bluegrass debut in 2025 from post position four in a field of five for trainer Ron Burke.

The 4-year-old son of Sweet Lou-Dancewiththebest is 5-2 on the morning line and places his two-race win streak on the line. The gelding is 6-2-1-2 on the season while competing primarily at The Meadows.

As mentioned previously, the half-brother to world and Ohio champion Dancin Yankee is familiar with the red clay defeating Kentucky champion Better Is Nice as a 2- and 3-year-old in the Kentucky Championship Series.

Bred by Anvil And Lace Farm, the gelding was purchased for $90,000 at the 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale by Burke Racing Stable Knox Services Inc., Weaver Bruscemi and J&T Silva Purnel & Libby.

Dancin Champion is 6-2-1-2 this year and 34-4-6-4 lifetime. He has collected $272,101 in purse money.

Bath Bomb looks to return to her winning ways

Andrew McCarthy and Bath Bomb are 6-5 on the morning line and will begin their mile from post position two in a field of five older mare pacers.

The daughter of Lather Up-Sangaal is trained by Per Engblom and returns to Lexington after a foray to Eldorado Scioto Downs, where she was fifth in the Cleopatra Invitational to Shadows Dancers.

Bath Bomb is 12-8-2-1 in 2025 with the Cleopatra the only occasion she did not finish in the money. One of those victories was the $150,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Final for this age, sex and gait at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel in June.

The mare established her lifetime mark of 1:49.1 in the second leg of this series last month and was competitive in the Championship Series last year.

Bred by Mark Smith, Bath Bomb is owned by Morrison Racing Stables. She went through the ring for $65,000 at the 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.

Bath Bomb has earned $391,610 and is 27-11-5-4. Looksgoodinloulou has collected $404,087 with seven wins from 15 trips to the post.

Racing at the Red Mile will continue through Sunday, Oct. 5, following a Sunday-through-Wednesday schedule. Fans and horsepeople can look forward to 5:05 p.m. post times on Sundays and 1 p.m. post times on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the meet.
