Lewis Capaldi made his long-awaited return to the stage as he kicked off his Survive Tour in Sheffield on Saturday night.

The singer, 28, launched the 17-date UK and Ireland run with back-to-back shows at the city’s Utilita Arena, just days before heading to his native Scotland to perform in Aberdeen and Glasgow.

Before stepping out in front of 12,500 fans, Lewis shared a video from inside the empty venue on Instagram, where he teased new music.

He wrote: ‘First night back on tour and new song coming soon, life is good x’ alongside a clip of him lip-syncing to his unreleased track Something In The Heavens.

Lewis also showed off cheeky signs waved by loyal fans on his Stories and revealed a surprise for gig-goers in the form of signed posters hidden at merch stands for the first to find them.

After the show, Lewis took to his stories again and posted a string of clips including a stream of fans holding up their phone torches.

The Freddie’s Flowers bouquet were sent with a signed card from Lewis, along with the lyrics: ‘I love you til’ my last breath’.

It comes after Lewis claimed some stars lied about checking in on him after he retreated from the spotlight amid his devastating battle with Tourette’s.

The singer who was left him unable to finish his Glastonbury set in 2023 when the condition manifested itself in front of thousands of fans, revealed that Elton John was one of the first people to phone him after the heart wrenching incident.

‘The day after Glastonbury Elton phoned and said it was wise to take a break. I knew he had my email but I didn’t know he had my number so he must have for it from management or something’,’ he said.

Speaking on Hits Radio, the Scottish singer branded the Rocket man, 78, a ‘really cool dude’ as well as praising pal Niall Horan, 31, for his support during that difficult time.

The Glaswegian singer made his return to music with an epic and emotional performance at this year’s Glastonbury, almost two years after he broke down on the very same stage, before taking a hiatus to focus on his physical and mental health.

But after taking some time away from the limelight and the ‘pressures’ of being a star, he said that he’s now ‘doing much better’ and is no longer taking the antidepressant Sertraline.

Lewis told fans on a livestream: ‘I’m not on antidepressants anymore’.

He added: ‘It was f*****g hard to get off it. You could say I survived getting off Sertraline but let’s not get into that. This is happy stuff, I’m trying to share less.

‘I’ve felt the best I’ve felt in a long time through therapy.

‘I think I will always be an anxious person, accepting that’s always going to be there for me is a big thing. It’s about how I respond to anxiety.’
