LAY OF THE DAY
Race 7 No.2 BANDASHA: Has genuine competition here from the likes of Midnight Drifter, Amarone and Sir Boo.
GRAFTON INSIDE MAIL
SHINE LIKE IT DOES (11) is a valuable mare given she is a granddaughter of the great Dane Ripper. So far, she boasts one win and seven placings from 16 starts. Trainer John Shelton has crafted the perfect opportunity for a second win on Tuesday. QUICK BUCK (5) is aptly-named given his earnings of circa $25,000 come off a $5,000 purchase price as a yearling. Last start winner who has to run the longer trip this time.
BET: SHINE LIKE IT DOES (11) to win, exacta 11 to beat 5.
RACE 5: Maiden Handicap (1200m)
DOINGITEASY (1) is one of four rides star apprentice Jett Newman has for her boss Matthew Dunn at Grafton on Tuesday. This is an opportune time to point out that they share a phenomenally high 26 per cent win strike rate. Newman was on the horse when he resumed with an encouraging second on a Heavy 8. NATIONAL INTEREST (4) is a 19-start maiden but has placed seven times, often in company better than this. Trial winner. SOL FILIA (7) and BETTER THAN PRESLEY (2) have claims.
BET: DOINGITEASY (1) to win, Daily Double 1st leg 1, 2nd leg 4.
GLAM (12) is another of the Dunn/Newman quartet. Newman steered the Gerry Harvey bred 3YO to her Maiden win at Casino on August 18. Go back to her debut in April and she was a close up fifth at Doomben. Barrier 1 has to help surely. GOT THE SMARTS (6) is a very reliable mare; 11 starts for a win and five placings. Drawn wide but does get back and does fly home. Looks the biggest obstacle for Dunn’s filly. OUR SPARKY (10)‘s only win was here and he’s run four seconds at Grafton too.
BET: GLAM (12) to win, exacta 12 to beat 6, box trifecta 6,10,11,12.
RUSTIC TZAR (4) is a well-bred, great looking chestnut; hence his $185,000 Inglis Classic Yearling sale price-tag. As it stands today, the son of Russian Revolution has a tidy CV of 10 starts for three wins, two seconds and a third. Lives in Queensland but all the wins are in NSW. CLUEDO (6) is a chance (if she comes of course/no rider). The best SIR BOO (5) would be on the podium here no fear. All of his three wins have come at Grafton, his home track and a track that plays to his slow early/fast late pattern.
BET: SIR BOO (5) each way.

QUEANBEYAN TIPS
BEST BET
Race 7 No.7 PARTY IT DOWN: Lightly-raced local resuming; one for one at the track and distance.
VALUE
Race 6 No.4 THAT A BOY: Trained here. Won here by panels this trip first-up last prep.
QUEANBEYAN INSIDE MAIL
RACE 4: Maiden Handicap (1000m)
CHILLI CRAB (2) was – no kind way to say it – awful when she ran 12-lengths last at Wyong on August 17. If you judge her on her debut at Port Macquarie and some of her trials, then you’d be happy to forgive and forget Wyong. PARTING THE SEAS (1) trialled well five times for Chilli Crab’s trainer Bjorn Baker but makes her race day debut for Matthew Kelley. Both are drawn poorly but they make the most appeal IMHO.
BET: CHILLI CRAB (2) to win, quinella 1,2.
PLEASURIZE (2) won easily on debut at Moruya before adding a Benchmark 58 at Goulburn three weeks later. Spelled, resumed with an honourable second at Moruya to a handy horse in a Class 3. MAN FROM BRUSSELLS (5) has visited Queanbeyan three times for a (barnstorming) win, a second and a third and they were all over this same distance. You’d think he nearly has to medal for sure here.
BET: PLEASURIZE (2) to win, exacta 2 to beat 5, Daily Double 1st leg 2, 2nd leg 7.
THAT A BOY (4) is trained here at Queanbeyan by Paul Facoory who looks in store for a massive day, all things being equal. That A Boy resumes on Tuesday so it is important to point out that he kicked off his preparation with an easy all the way win over this same distance. Go well again. LORD FINLAND (1) has turned in a couple of underwhelming runs to start the new campaign but one was in a 66, the other one a 58 that was probably stronger than this one.
BET: THAT A BOY (4) to win.
PARTY IT DOWN (7) is one of the seven Paul Facoory runners on the card and the best bet of them IMHO. She raced three times in April, that was her first preparation done and dusted and won the middle start here by two lengths in really impressive fashion actually. Long story short, she has a favourable draw over the right trip. HURRICANE CONI (3) is trained here by the King of Queanbeyan (Joe Cleary) but is yet to win or place at home in five starts. Could change today though.
BET: PARTY IT DOWN (7) to win (best bet), exacta 7 to beat 3.
