Residents and staff at Woodside House Care Home in Norwich kicked off the new Dementia Disco initiative on Friday, August 29.

The idea, proposed by the care home’s activities team, aims to provide joy and reminiscence for dementia patients through the power of music.

Local DJ Jack entertained attendees, including community members and friends of the home, with nostalgia-inducing tunes that sparked happy memories for many.

The event was deemed a success by all who attended.

Sarah Robinsons, general manager, said: “The Dementia Disco is a fantastic way to connect with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.

“It’s wonderful to see the power of music bring joy and reminiscence for those living with dementia, their families and caregivers.”

A family member of a resident expressed delight, saying: “We enjoyed the Dementia Disco so much and we are really looking forward to the next one.”

Woodside House Care Home, operated by Barchester Healthcare, offers residential, nursing and dementia care, providing both respite breaks and long-term stays.
