Celtic fans heard from the board over the weekend, whilst not hearing from them at the same time, if that makes sense.

You just know Celtic’s pretty unpopular statement, over how and why they have conducted recent business, was coming from the higher-ups at the club, including CEO, Michael Nicholson.

But nobody from inside the Celtic Park boardroom had the bravery to put their name to the statement, or come out and speak on matters that have frustrated and angered fans beyond boiling point.

Even after the 2025 summer transfer window slammed shut, more noise is coming out, including how Daizen Maeda wasn’t allowed to leave, but Tam McManus’ suggestion that supporters will hear from Celtic’s CEO on the matter was quickly shut down.

It needs to be noted that Peter Martin’s comments came before Celtic put out a statement, and they have proven to be correct.

McManus stated that, ‘there might be somebody coming out and speaking shortly’, before he was asked who, and he put Nicholson’s name forward.

That left PLZ Soccer presenter Martin in hysterics because he made it pretty clear, ‘nothing is changing’ because it hasn’t happened for 20 years.

McManus: “Questions are rightly going to be asked about the Celtic recruitment team.”

Martin: “It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter now.”

McManus: “What do you mean, ‘it doesn’t matter?’”

Martin: “Nothing’s changing. There’s nobody held accountable. There’s no heads rolling. ‘Shut up. Pay for your season ticket. Get on with it. This is the strategy. We’ll do what we like. And by the way, if you want an answer, you’re not getting one. We’re not going to speak to you.’”

McManus: “Well, there might be somebody coming out and speaking shortly.”

Martin: “Who?”

McManus: “Michael Nicholson.”

Martin: “Not a chance. No chance.”

Alison McConnell: “That’s fake news. That’s what we call it.”

Martin: “That’s not happening. How many times has Michael Nicholson actually come out and said anything?”

McManus: “You can’t just sit in the background in the shadows and not say anything, especially this coming out with Daizen Maeda.”

Martin is then in hysterics: “There’s what’s called telepathy there from Allison and myself. We’re just looking at each other going, ‘Tam clearly doesn’t get the drill now. We’ve had it for 20 years.’ Nobody’s coming out.”

What next for Celtic?

As much as fans’ voices need to be heard, and they will be for Celtic’s next home game against Hibernian at the end of the month, matters need to be dealt with on the pitch.

The last few matches have been a borefest beyond belief from Brendan Rodgers’ side, and despite that, the champions of Scotland are top of the table after four matches.

It just goes to show how dominant Celtic are in Scotland, and how this board are missing out on seriously pushing the club forward to heights never seen before.
