These opinions were expressed about Dawn Fletcher, who has been involved with the programme since April 2018.
Played by Olivia Bromley, she is the estranged wife of Billy Fletcher and mother of Lucas Taylor and Evan Fletcher.
She has been involved in some big storylines, including having an affair with Joe Tate, but some viewers are seemingly not a big fan of the character.
A post on the r/Emmerdale Reddit page made observations about Dawn and another character in Celia Daniels.
They wrote: “Dawn! Will this ‘sell yer soul to the devil’ character writing ever end, or has she become an absolute airhead?”
Emmerdale fans criticise ‘useless’ writing for Dawn Fletcher
A few people in the replies to the post seemed to agree with the sentiments, as one commented: “Dawn is useless she definitely needs to go also she is a snooze”.
Another shared: “Dawn once upon a time had so much potential and now it’s zero.”
One expressed frustration with the Dawn-Joe storyline, saying: “I don’t understand Dawn and Joe. Joe strikes me as someone who wants to carry on the Tate legacy.
“How can he do that when he’s with a woman who wasn’t even sure she wanted a 3rd child with her husband?
“Meanwhile, Dawn can see that Joe is an absolute t***Â of a human being but still chose him over Billy.”
Discussing a potential direction they’d like to see Dawn’s character progress in, another wrote: “I think Dawn needs a guy like Ross to compliment her. They could end up being an awesome ship in my opinion.
“Joe comes out as bisexual and him, and Dawn become besties up to no good.”
In another Reddit post on the forum, other viewers shared how they had become frustrated with the story surrounding these three characters.

One wrote: “I have to some extent lost interest in Dawn since she left Billy for Joe. Although Billy is bland, he is loyal and caring.
“Given that Joe revealing Will’s abandoned plans to deceive Kim triggered his heart attack, it is especially absurd for Dawn to fall for Joe for all people.”
Another joked: “I’m just so bored of them both, but especially Dawn. Can’t John do us all a solid and kill them off before he leaves.”
