At the center of this story is Maury Holt, currently serving as the Assistant Coach for the Lexington Girl’s Basketball team. His journey, marked by both personal athletic prowess and a deep-seated commitment to youth development, mirrors the success of his lineage. Maury’s love for the game is a direct inheritance from his parents, Carolyn Curry and Rory Holt, both remarkable athletes in their own right. His father, Rory Holt, alongside Maury’s grandfather, holds the unique distinction of being the first father-son inductees into the Lexington Senior High School (LSHS) Hall of Fame—a testament to generations of exceptional talent.
Born and raised in Lexington, Maury’s roots run deep in the community. After earning his Bachelor’s in Sport Management from Wingate University, he returned with a clear vision: to be an inspiration and a role model for the youth of his hometown. His own high school career was nothing short of stellar, characterized by “stunning basketball handles” and “explosive take-offs for explosive slam dunks”—qualities that hint at a natural athleticism likely shared through his family’s genetic makeup.
