A flood alert has been issued for West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “High tides this evening may lead to flooding.

“Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, property flooding is not expected.

“Highest tide level is expected to be at West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit at 7.45. Flooding is possible two hours either side of this time.

“Areas most at risk include West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit.

“We do not expect to see similar impacts from the high tide tomorrow morning.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.

“Please do not drive through flood water as bow waves may affect adjacent properties.”
