Good Morning Britain has triggered fury over a Prince Harry segment as viewers raged “give it a rest”. During Wednesday’s episode of the popular ITV show on September 10, Susanna Reid and Ed Balls delivered the latest headlines.

They were joined in the studio by Laura Tobin, who provided regular weather updates, whilst Charlotte Hawkins shared the remainder of the day’s news.

Later in the programme, the presenters discussed Prince Harry’s recent donation of £1.1 million to a Children in Need project, which their chosen angle quickly riled up audiences as reported by the Mirror.

“Prince Harry has made a personal donation of £1.1 million to a BBC Children in Need project in Nottingham, which supports young people who have been affected by violence,” Ed said.

Susanna added: “Prince Harry hopes the donation from his own money, rather than his Archewell charitable organisation, will help changemakers in the city continue their mission to create safe spaces.

“But is the donation a genuine gesture or a cynical way to win back public support?”.

Shortly before a debate took place on the topic on the breakfast show, the programme posted a poll on Twitter, asking whether the donation was “genuine”.

However, GMB viewers were quickly left frustrated by the nature of the poll and the discussion of Prince Harry and his relationship with his father, King Charles.

“Give it a rest,” one person wrote, with another adding: “Give him a break. Good on him for doing it.”

One viewer expressed their disbelief, stating: “Do most people hand over £1.1m disingenuously? What an absolutely ridiculous question. Are you alright?” Another echoed this sentiment, asking: “FFS! Have you all lost the plot?”.

Another viewer chimed in with: “Oh give over about Prince Harry,” while another questioned: “Why is there speculation over a father meeting with his son? Hardly news.”

The Duke of Sussex arrived in the UK on Monday, September 8, and paid a visit to Windsor Castle, where he left flowers in memory of his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth, on the third anniversary of her passing.

Harry then made an appearance at the annual WellChild Awards in London, amid rumours that his trip might include meetings with his brother, Prince William, or his father King Charles.

The WellChild Awards marked the first time in five months that the Duke of Sussex, who is the patron of the charity, has returned to the UK.
