Police are investigating an attempt to snatch a schoolgirl from the street near a Birmingham beauty spot.

The incident took place near Faulkners Farm Drive in Erdington on Wednesday (September 10).

The girl, aged 14, was on her way to school when a man is said to have tried to ‘drag’ her into a car at around 8.45am.

The girl managed to run away and police said she was not injured.

But the girl’s mother posted on social media that her daughter was ‘really shaken up’.

She said: “This world is sickening. My daughter was almost abducted and dragged into a car this morning on the way to school.

“Lucky she managed to get away and return home safely.

“Feds best find him before he approaches someone else who won’t be so lucky. [It happened in Faulkner’s Farm Drive car park. Feeling sick.

The teen’s aunt also posted online and said: “So some man tried to abduct my 14-year-old niece this morning on Faulkners Farm Drive, Erdington.

“But luckily she managed to get away. Can everyone share this so people know because another girl might not be so lucky.

“He’s a white man with a bald head and an accent, hopefully they find the b*****d!”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating following an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl near Witton Lakes Park.

“We were called to reports that a man had tried to abduct a girl near Faulkners Farm Drive in Erdington, at around 8.45 this morning, before she managed to run away.

“Our investigators are working to establish the full details and identify who was responsible.

“Thankfully, the girl was uninjured and is safe.
