A town has been plunged into “bumper to bumper” traffic after an emergency road closure.
Whitstable Road in Faversham has been shut at the junction with Love Lane for water works after a pipe burst in the area earlier today.

No timeline for the completion of the job has been provided yet, but it has wreaked havoc across the town with reports of gridlock on the roads.
The A2 and Newton Road are severely congested, with queues as far back as West Street.
One driver described it as “chaos” and said a five-minute journey had so far taken more than an hour.
“Everywhere you go, there are queues – the whole town is at a complete standstill,” they said.
