Some of the biggest names in television were partying the night away at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on Wednesday.

The glamorous annual affair celebrates the best of British television from the past year, with prizes awarded for all areas of the industry. Former Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker and Adolescence star Owen Cooper were among the winners, as was Michael McIntyre and Jeremy Clarkson.

There were plenty of surprises, laughter and fun moments at The O2 Arena in London on Wednesday.

Here are the most talked about moments from the NTAs…

Jeremy Clarkson suffered a wardrobe malfunction while picking up the NTA for Clarkson’s Farm.

Luckily, his girlfriend Lisa Hogan was there on stage to help rescue his trousers before they fell down to his ankles.

In good humour, the TV presenter made light of the moment in his winning speech. He joked, “I should explain I’m on Mounjaro, my trousers are falling down. Lisa’s going to hold my trousers up whilst I make a very short speech.”

Clarkson switched from using weight loss drug Ozempic to Mounjaro after the first left him feeling sick.

Jokes aside, collecting the award for best factual entertainment show, he said he was “genuinely thrilled”.

Gary Lineker ended Ant and Dec’s 23-year winning streak for Best Presenter at the NTAs, making it arguably the biggest talking point of the night.

The former Match of the Day star joked he had won the “Ant and Dec trophy” when he went to collect the accolade from the stage.

He also said: “I think it demonstrates that perhaps it’s okay sometimes for us to use our platform to speak up on behalf of those who have no voice.”

Ant and Dec were not at the ceremony as they are filming I’m a Celebrity All Stars in South Africa. The Geordie duo had a hilarious response to losing out on the trophy as they said well done to Lineker.

They said on Instagram: “We were beaten by an up and coming new guy, 64-year-old Gary Lineker… Well deserved, congratulations Gary. Very well deserved, great speech too… Lovely speech thoroughly deserved, well done pal.”

This week, Thomas Skinner walked out of a Strictly press conference, but The Apprentice star will stay on the show despite the drama.

Just one day after the chaos unfolding, there were no Strictly stars in sight at the dazzling NTA awards for a special reason. Hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, the professional dancers and the 2025 celebrity line-up were all busy filming the pre-recorded launch show of Strictly.

Despite not attending, Strictly won the award for best talent show. JLS star JB Gill, who appeared in last year’s series of the BBC show, said: “It really is an army that makes Strictly. A huge thanks to Tess, Claudia, the judges, obviously the incredible dancers as well.”

Pro dancer Amy Dowden’s documentary narrowly lost out to Molly-Mae Hague’s Prime Video series, Molly-Mae: Behind It All.

Another big surprise of the night saw Molly-Mae Hague take home the documentary award for her Prime Video series that documents the fallout of her split from Tommy Fury.

Hague attended the NTAs alone while her partner, Fury, looked after their two-year-old daughter, Bambi at home, where they were able to watch the event live on TV. In her speech, the mother-of-one gave them a special mention. She said, “To Tommy and Bambi at home, I love you guys so much. I couldn’t live without you guys.”

The influencer fought off tough competition from documentaries, There’s Only One Rob Burrow, Flintoff, and Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me.

She said: “Just to be nominated for this award was such an honour. I think as you guys saw, we were up against some seriously inspirational people in this category.”

Also in her speech, she dedicated the award to the late Burrow who died aged 41 last year.

After her big win, there has been some backlash at Hague winning the award because of the powerful stories told by the other documentaries in the category. Not shying away from the controversy, the former Love Island star addressed the backlash and praised those inspirational stories.

Following the event, Hague wrote on Instagram: “Just speechless. Last night at the NTAs I shared a category with people whose stories will always be more powerful and inspirational than mine. I see that, I believe that and I want to acknowledge it again here.

“It was only right to dedicate this award to the late Rob Burrow and his family and to the remarkable people in my category… this win belongs to them. I’m so grateful for the recognition but even more grateful to have stood alongside such strength and inspiration.

“To everyone that voted… I am absolutely blown away. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

There were some awkward moments too, as Danny Jones and Maura Higgins were reunited on stage to collect an award for I’m a Celebrity.

It comes just six months after the musician appeared to briefly kiss his campmate Higgins at a BRIT Awards after-party in the early hours. They partied with the stars at Universal’s after-party in 180 Studios on The Strand in central London.

The McFly musician later publicly apologised to his wife to whom he has been married since 2014. They raise their six-year-old son Cooper together, both of whom flew out to meet him while he was starring on I’m a Celebrity in Australia.

The NTAs are available to watch back on ITVX.
