Update #2 [Thu 11th Sep 2025, 10:35am]:
The playable demo for Digimon Story Time Stranger is available to download now on PS5. It weighs in at just under 5GB on Sony’s system.
The demo covers the RPG’s opening, giving you a decent idea of what’s in store with regards to story and gameplay. You’ll choose your character — a male or female agent — pick out your first partner Digimon, explore several locations, and engage in a bunch of battles.
What’s more, progress that you make in the demo can be carried over to the full game, which launches in just a few weeks, on the 3rd October.

Update #1 [Tue 9th Sep 2025, 4:15pm]:
And just like that, Bandai Namco has confirmed the release timings for the previously outed Digimon Story Time Stranger demo.
The demo will launch this week, on the 11th September, but there are currently no details on what this early look will actually feature. Here’s hoping that it’s a reasonably sized chunk of the RPG’s opening hours.
Heads up, Agent – looks like there’s something going on in Shinjuku. Ready to go check it out?

Original Story: A playable demo for Digimon Story Time Stranger will be dropping at some point before launch, the game’s producer has confirmed.
In an interview with Japanese outlet Gamersky (as spotted by Gematsu), producer Ryosuke Hara says that the demo will be made available “soon”, but he stops short of giving us an actual date.
We would assume that an official announcement from Bandai Namco will be arriving within the next couple of weeks, with Time Stranger itself releasing on the 3rd October.
If you haven’t been keeping up, this new Digimon RPG has looked like the real deal for months now. Previews have been super positive, gameplay footage has looked great, and given the apparent marketing budget, the publisher clearly has faith in what’s set to be the biggest Digimon title yet.
With any luck, this incoming demo should give us an idea of whether Time Stranger is going to live up to expectations.
We also wouldn’t be surprised if the demo covers the introductory chapter of the game, allowing players to carry over their progress to the full release. That seems to be the trend with RPG demos these days.
