We’re celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the stop-motion-animated fantasy musical film Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride with our latest competition, where you can win a copy of the 2005 film on 4K & Blu-ray Steelbook!
Based on a 19th-century Russian folktale, the film follows a young man who mistakenly weds a corpse while on a two-day trek to the village of his real bride-to-be. It is up to the groom’s flesh-and-blood fiancée, who has been pining for the arrival of her intended, to face her wraith-like rival and make peace with her by promising to live her dreams for her and by vowing to remember her always. Only then are the living bride and groom free to proceed with their own wedding ceremony.
Directed by Mike Johnson (in his directorial debut) and Tim Burton from a screenplay by John August, Caroline Thompson and Pamela Pettler, the film is based on characters by Burton and Carlos Grangel. The music – of course! – is by Danny Elfman.
The all-star ensemble voice cast features Johnny Depp as Victor Van Dort and Helena Bonham Carter as Emily, the corpse bride, along with Emily Watson, Tracey Ullman, Paul Whitehouse, Joanna Lumley, Albert Finney, Richard E. Grant, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Jane Horrocks, Enn Reitel, Deep Roy, Danny Elfman, and Stephen Ballantyne.
The movie was nominated for the 78th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was named the National Board of Review’s Best Animated Feature in 2005.
This new Digital and Ultra HD Blu-ray release of the movie contains new and previously released special features, including ‘Digging up the Past: The Minds Behind The Corpse Bride’; ‘Til Death Do Us Art A Corpse Bride Reflection’; ‘Danny Elfman Interprets the Two Worlds’; ‘Voices from the Underworld’ and much much more!
