Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright have been left out of the squad Birmingham City submitted to the EFL after the transfer windowLyndon Dykes, Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright hold the League One trophy
Birmingham City hope to welcome back Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright from their long-term knee injuries in the New Year.
Buchanan and Wright were omitted from the squad Blues submitted to the EFL after the end of the transfer window as they continue their rehabilitation at the club’s training base in Henley-in-Arden.
Left-back Buchanan has only played four games since Chris Davies took charge due to injuries and hasn’t featured since the 0-0 draw with Blackpool on December 29, 2024.
Wright suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury for the second time in his career during a draw at Reading in February.
Blues boss Davies hopes they can be fit for the New Year and the second half of the Championship season.
Offering an update on the pair, Davies said: “Their planned progression back into training is towards the back end of the year. Both, we would hope, would be ready to go in the New Year.
“Lee is a little bit behind Scott, even though Scott was injured after Lee. Both are working very hard to be fair to them – I’m getting updates every day from the physio.
“They are at the more exciting part of their process now, starting to venture outside a little bit more and moving their legs a little bit more.
“We could probably position it as the New Year that they can get going again.”
