STUART McMillan, constituency MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, has welcomed progress on broadband upgrades in the area.

A total of 475 homes and businesses in Inverclyde are now connected to gigabit-capable broadband through the Scottish Government’s Reaching 100 per cent (R100) programme.

The project aims to deliver high-speed broadband access to every property in Scotland by 2028.

Mr McMillan said: “I welcome the 475 new connections for gigabit-capable broadband in Inverclyde, which are part of over 27,000 new connections established across Scotland last year – a target exceeding number.

“With many people still working from home, these new connections enable people to work, buy and sell online, supporting the local economy and use the internet for leisure as well.”

The Scottish Government has already exceeded its 2024-25 target, delivering 27,134 new connections last year.

The MSP said continued investment was needed to ensure full coverage.
