A beloved US bakery chain has abruptly closed all of its UK outlets, leaving foodies disappointed. Brits are renowned for their love of sweet indulgences, with numerous bakery and dessert chains operating throughout the UK.

Cinnabon, the American company that launched in Washington and famous for its decadent cinnamon rolls, shut all 12 of its UK branches this week. The brand has vanished from major cities nationwide less than five years following its British debut. Plenty of food fans have expressed sadness at this news, including content creator Angelina Perello-Javar. She is well-known for her food and drink reviews and has accumulated 55 million likes on TikTok.

In one of her recent TikTok videos, she confirmed Cinnabon’s closure of all UK locations by visiting Westfield London.

Expressing her upset, she said: “This is definitely the worst news I’ve heard this week. When I tell you Cinnabon, they do the best buns in the entire world and I’ve tried a lot of buns in my life.”

Angelina wandered through the shopping centre searching for Cinnabon after being unable to find it on one of the digital directories.

Upon reaching the kiosk, she discovered it had certainly shut down after noting the absence of staff, empty display cases, and no customers.

Moving nearer to the outlet, the food critic observed: “It’s empty. Can we please just get a moment of silence please for Cinnabon right now because I am actually grieving.”

Angelina was left stunned and devastated that Cinnabon had shut down. She concluded: “Yeah guys, currently I’m in a state of mourning. I put my hood up and I just…thanks to the Cinnabon gods for at least having them in the UK.”

The TikTok video has amassed 419,200 views, 36,100 likes and more than 300 comments, so far.

A fellow Cinnabon fan remarked: “Yeah me too, actually crashed out when I heard the news.”

Another commented: “This is worse than heartbreak.” A third revealed: “I went to Bullring yesterday just for Cinnabon and it’s empty.”

Others posted comments, including “What? I’m in mourning”, “This is devastating” and “They didn’t even warn us they’re closing.”

Cinnabon arrived in the UK in December 2020 and operated sites in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Edinburgh, as well as others.

EG On the Move, the firm that introduced Cinnabon to the UK via a partnership, announced it has made the “strategic decision” to shut all of its stores, the Daily Express reported.

In a statement, the business said: “EG On the Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK.

“This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business.

“This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.”

Despite Cinnabon’s departure from the UK, TikTok users on Angelina’s post have shared suggestions for other spots where foodies can satisfy their cinnamon bun cravings.

One user advised: “Guys if u want Cinnabon and you’re in Leeds, UK go to Cinnaful it’s amazing and better than Cinnabon.”

Another suggested: “If you’re local to Manchester just go to Rollers, they’re so much nicer.”

A different user recommended buying Tesco’s cinnamon buns and heating them up for 40 seconds.
