YOUNG actress Molly Cartwright says she was incredibly excited after The Conjuring Last Rites broke multiple records on its opening weekend – having grossed more than £138m globally.

The ten-year-old from Penistone plays the part of Shannon Smurl in the latest Conjuring film, which was released on the silver screen on Friday.

The film’s opening weekend grosses a huge £138m global, making it the biggest-ever overseas horror debut of all time – overtaking It Chapter 2.

It is also the second biggest debut globally ever.

Molly’s mum, Katie, told the Chronicle: “It’s broken a few records this weekend which is great.

“Molly has had so many amazing messages and she’s very heavily featured throughout the film as well.

“She’s loved it.

“She reunited with lots of the crew this weekend at another Leicester Square screening which was fabulous.”
