Auditions are underway this weekend in Nicosia to select Cyprus’ representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

70 singers from across Cyprus are taking part in auditions to select the nation’s singer for the 23rd Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi, Georgia. Auditions have taken place on Saturday and continue today at the CyBC studios in the Cypriot capital.

A selection committee is assessing applicants’ vocal abilities, stage presence and ability to perform a song. A 5-member jury (3 adults and 2 children) will award points to the artists in Eurovision style (12, 10, 8-1). The artist with the most points will represent Cyprus in Tbilisi. In case of a tie, the artist who received the most sets of 12 points will be declared the winner.

Alongside the selection for the singer, CyBC also made an open call for songs for the contest. 20 songs have been submitted to the broadcaster, with the songs now also being reviewed to select the best song for the chosen singer.

Cyprus returned to Junior Eurovision last year, after last participating in 2017. Maria Pissarides represented Cyprus in Madrid with “Crystal Waters”. She finished 13th with 60 points.

On home soil, they were represented by Elena Mannouri & Charis Saava. They finished 10th with 46 points.
