Gossip Stoke shut its beer garden due to a fireworks display

The ‘number one party venue’ in Stoke-on-Trent was forced to shut its beer garden – due to a fireworks display. Gossip Stoke shut the beer garden at its Hanley venue last night after being ‘showered in fire’.

The closure was triggered by a fireworks display to celebrate the unveiling of the 100 Years 100 Faces mural in nearby Marsh Street. The artwork celebrates a century of Stoke-on-Trent’s diverse spirit and stories.

It has been commissioned and funded by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID).

Now Gossip Stoke has complained to BID. Other complaints have also been lodged with BID and Stoke-on-Trent City Council after pet owners complained they had not been forewarned about the display.

In a social media post shared with StokeonTrentLive, Carl Gratty posted: “BID thought it would be a good idea to have a fireworks celebration launched from the roof of the old Go Outdoors showering us in fire. We had to shut the beer garden at Gossip Stoke because it was so dangerous. It was like a warzone.”
