The stars are out in force on Sunday as the celebrate the biggest night in television, the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The glamorous ceremony is being held this year at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Paramount+ premium subscribers can also stream the Emmys live or on demand, while base-tier subscribers can stream on-demand the day after. 

Grammy-nominated comedian Nate Bargatze is making his debut hosting the ceremony after becoming a stand-up star and a popular repeat guest on Saturday Night Live in recent years.

Apple TV+’s hit series Severance leads the nominees this year with an impressive 27 nods, including for Best Drama Series and most of the drama acting categories.

Colin Farrell‘s Batman spinoff The Penguin is competing for second place with 24 nods, while The Studio and HBO‘s The White Lotus are both tied for 23 nominations.

Noah Wyle’s ER follow-up The Pitt TRIUMPHS with best drama series win after The Studio and Adolescence win big

Moments after Noah Wyle won his first Emmy for starring in The Pitt, his show scored one of the biggest triumphs of the evening by winning best drama series.

The ER veteran shared the spotlight with the series’ creator and showrunner, R. Scott Gemmill.

‘I want to dedicate this on behalf of everyone, to all the health care workers, frontline, first responders,’ Gemmill concluded his speech. ‘Respect them, protect them, trust them.’

Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ satire The Studio previously won the best comedy award, while Netflix’s ripped-from-the-headlines show Adolescence won for best limited series.

Noah Wyle was nominated five times for playing Dr. John Carter on ER, but it took his own medical drama The Pitt for him to finally win an Emmy.

Wyle won for best lead actor in a drama for playing Dr. Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch, the attending physician at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center emergency room.

The show, which was a critical and fan hit, was told 24-style, with each hour-long episode representing an hour of an extended ER shift.

Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ series The Studio beat out Emmy heavyweights Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders In The Building and What We Do In The Shadows.

The win was even more surprising since it was for The Studio’s first season.

The series had already made history by tying for the most Emmy nominations of any comedy series.

Rogen co-created the series with Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez, and he starred as a studio head struggling to revive a failing Hollywood studio.

Stephen Graham was up at the microphone again after his series Adolescence scored another major win for outstanding limited or anthology series.

Earlier, he won a best actor prize, while Owen Cooper made history as the youngest Emmy wnner ever for supporting actor and Erin Doherty also won for supporting actress.

American Horror Story stars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters reunite to present

Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, two of the longtime stars of multiple seasons of Ryan Murphy and Bradley Falchuk’s popular anthology series American Horror Story, reunited to present on Sunday.

Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back on calling out his soon-to-be-former employer CBS when he won the Emmy for The Late Show.

‘I want to thank CBS were giving us the privilege to be part of the late-night tradition, which I hope continues long after we are no longer doing this show,’ he said.

Just beforehand, his colleageues chanted ‘Stephen! Stephen!’ on stage before he told them to ‘think of the children’ because of host Nate Bargatze’s diminishing donation clock.

And the end, he got whipped into a fury and shouted, ‘Stay strong, be brave, and if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor! Whoo!’

Pedro Pascal is known for his touchy-feely way with his celebrity friends, but one star seemed not to be feeling it on Sunday.

Severance star Adam Scott had a tense interaction with Pascal as the Fantastic Four actor after tapping him on the arm.

Stephen Graham scored the third acting win for Adolescence at the Emmys.

His win followed Owen Cooper’s history-making victory as the youngest Emmy winner ever, and Erin Doherty also notched a supporting actress win.

‘This kind of thing doesn’t normally happen to me. I’m just a mixed-race kid from a block of flats in a place called Kirkby,’ he said in astonishment at the start of his speech.

Graham starred on Adolescence as the father of a teen son accused of brutally murdering a classmate.

He was honored at the Emmys for his multifacted talents after receiving additional nods for writing and directing the series.

Phylicia Rashad of The Cosby Show fame introduced the 2025 In Memriam segment by remembering her late costar Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

The former child star died on July 20 in a tragic drowning incident while vacationing in Costa Rica with his family.

Country stars Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson performed the somber accompaniment for the segment.

Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen were the 2025 recipients of the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

The married couple were introduced by The Good Place star Kristen Bell and Michael Schur, who poked fun at Danson as being ‘both tall and from San Diego.’

‘That’s according to a bio his publicist sent over, as neither of us is familiar with his acting work,’ they joked.

Danson and Steenburgen were cited for their work defeneding the LGBTQ community and advocating for the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, No Kid Hungry and other programs focused on addiction prevention and treatment.

She’s been an in-demand actress for years, but Cristin Milioti notched her biggest success to date when she won lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie.

She starred opposite Colin Farrell, who was covered in prosthetics, in The Penguin.

The unrecognizable Farrell played the eponymous Batman villain, while Milioti played the rising mob boss Sofia Gigante.

‘Sorry, I wrote this on the back of notes I took in therapy the other day, so don’t look at the back,’ she joked at the start of her speech.

Adolescence star Erin Doherty followed up Owen Cooper’s history-making win with her own victory in the supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie.

It was her first nomination and win.

Saturday Night Live scored a major award for oustanding live variety series despite its cast being decimated in recent weeks.

SNL alumna Tina Fey presented the award and joked that people would wonder if she just annonced her old show out of habit.

The iconic sketch comedy series won for its 50th anniversary special, even though it competed against itself with its Homecoming special.

Lorne Michaels, the SNL creator who first announced major firings were ahead, accepted the award.

Heidi Garnder, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim were all announced to be leaving the show ahead of season 51.

Owen Cooper had one for the history books after he won outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his dark drama Adolescence at just 15 years old.

Astonishingly, the award-winning performance marked his screen debut.

He played a teen accused of brutally murdering one of his classmates in the limited series, which was co-created by Stephen Graham, who played his father in the show.

‘Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn’t expect to be even in the United States, never mind here,’ Cooper said in shock.

John Oliver managed to get through his speech for oustanding scripted variety series in around 15 seconds, but he was still censored twice on the live broadcast on CBS.

The former Daily Show star won the award for his news-comedy series Last Week Tonight on HBO.

On social media, fans were begging someone in the audience to tell them what the comedian had said that warranted the double censorship.

One fan claimed he said, ‘F*** you Nate Bargatze, that is a lot of money for you – and you can add a f*** to the swear jar as well.’

After his speech, Oliver kept things moving along by literally running of the stage.

Walton Goggins tried steered clear of controversy when he presented outstanding directing for a comedy series with his White Lotus costar Parker Posey.

The two avoided any hint of the controversy that swarmed Goggins over his bizarre online behavior toward his on-screen love interest Aimee Lou Wood.

He and Posey joked about wanting to go back to Thailand, where the show was filmed, for the Thai food.

Amid the flurry of camera flashes, Nadia leaned toward her husband for a kiss but was met with a ‘reluctant’ response from her spouse, who pecked her very briefly before turning back to the crowd of photographers.

Jeff Hiller won his first Emmy and beat a murderers’ row of talent when he won the award for support actor in a comedy.

Hiller was competing against a stacked set of stars including Ike Barinholtz (The Studio), Colman Domingo (The Four Seasons), Harrison Ford (Shrinking), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear), Michael Urie (Shrinking) and SNL star Bowen Yang.

Hiller joked, ‘I feel like I’m going to cry, because for the past 25 years I have been like, “World, I want to be an actor!” And the world was like, “Maybe computers?”‘

He shared his gushing thanks for his costar Bridget Everett and his husband.

Hannah Einbinder scored her first win after three previous loss for Hacks, and she used the opportunity to sneak in a political message about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

At the very end of her speech, Einbinder added: ‘Finally, I just want to say go birds and free Palestine. Thank you.’

She stars on Hacks as a struggling comedian who takes a job writing jokes for a famous stand-up who has seen better days (Jean Smart).

Einbinder wasn’t the only star to share her support for Palestinians under assault in Gaza, as Javier Bardem previously called for ‘Israel to stop this genocide.’

Einbinder’s comment on the broadcast was briefly marred after the Emmys technical team censored her just before her pro-Palestine slogan.

The Pitt started on a strong foot when it won an early Emmy on Sunday.

Katherine LaNasa nabbed the supporting actress in a drama series award for the hit HBO medical drama.

She pumped the statuette in the air and raised her arms in triumphant to celebrate her win.

Jean Smart continued to be the queen of the lead actress in a comedy series category when she won once again for her role on Hacks.

This marks the fourth time Smart has captured the Emmy, even as he costar Hannah Einbinder has never managed to win for the acclaimed HBO series.

But Jean set off concern as she limped across the stage to get to the microphone.

‘If I was walking like John Wayne, it’s because I broke my knee this summer and it’s not quite repaired,’ she explained.

Seth Rogen kicked off the Emmy wins with a statuette for lead actor in a comedy series.

He stars in Apple TV+’s The Studio, a satire about executives struggling to revive a struggling Hollywood studio.

Jennifer Coolidge had the audience in stitches when she presented the Emmy for lead actress in a comedy series.

The Legally Blonde star joked that winning her own Emmy for The White Lotus ruined her relationship with her costars because they ‘removed me from the group chat’ afterward.

‘We were all supposed to go on a trip to ibiza. I found out I wasn’t included, and the only reason I knew that was because Elizabeth debicki and I have the same ozempic dealer,’ she joked.

‘Now that I think about it, winning the Emmy might have been the worst thing to ever happen to me,’ Coolidge said without bothering to think of a segue before presenting the award, which once again went to Jean Smart for Hacks.

Sydney Sweeney led the best-dressed stars at the Emmys in a sizzling plunging red satin gown.

Jenna Ortega channeled the ’90s classic Death Becomes Her in a jeweled top inspired by Death Becomes Her.

Host Nate Bargatze goes back to the invention of television in hilarious opening sketch

Comedian Nate Bargatze brought his massively popular deadpan style to open the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

The comic was joined by Saturday Night Live stars James Austen Johnson, Bowen Yang and Mikey Day.

Bargatze played television inventor Phil T. Farnsworth, but he imagined today’s fractured streaming ecosystem.

Javier Bardem put politics front and center when he hit the Emmys red carpet.

The Spanish actor showed his support for Palestinian civilians by wearing a keffiyeh and calling for ‘Israel to stop this genocide.’

Instead of answering questions about his nominated show Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story, he spoke on Israel’s offensive in Gaza.

‘At the end of August, the IAGS, the International Association of Genocide Scholars who studied thoroughly the concept of genocide, called what is going on in Gaza today a genocide. And that’s why we ask for the commercial and diplomatic blockade and the sanctions on Israel to stop this genocide. Free Palestine,’ he declared.

Harrison Ford seemed to be in high spirits when he arrived at the Emmys red carpet with his wife Calista Flockhart.

He has numerous iconic films behind him, but this year marks the first time Ford has ever been nominated for an Emmy Award.

He’s competing for his role on Apple TV+’s Shrinking as a senior therapist struggling with Parkinson’s disease.

The Indiana Jones star has gone all in on television after also leading the Yellowstone prequel 1923.

Walton Goggins and his wife Nadia Conners showed they were on the same page when they arrived at the 77th Emmy Awards red carpet with a passionate kiss.

The sweet display comes after the White Lotus star addressed his relationship with costar Aimee Lou Wood.

But Walton and Nadia made themselves the stars of the show and proved their relationship was still strong by locking lips as they made a grand entrance.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards is now underway with an impressive array of big-name stars already flooding onto the red carpet.

A-listers have been descending in their droves on the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the best of the TV industry.

Comedian Nate Bargatze, who has insisted that he will not make the show political, is gearing up to host for the first time after becoming a popular repeat guest on Saturday Night Live.
