Ricky Hatton’s only son, Campbell, suffered the devastating loss of his best friend just months before the tragic death of his father.
The legendary Manchester boxer was found dead at his home in Greater Manchester on Sunday morning (September 14).
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery of a body of man aged 46 and stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Hatton, who won six world titles across three weight divisions, will be remembered as one of the UK’s best fighters of his generation.
He would have celebrated his 47th birthday next month and leaves behind three children, including his son Campbell, who also had a professional boxing career.
Campbell was once tipped as a future star before making the sudden decision to retire at the tender age of 24.

Campbell made his professional debut in 2021 and achieved his first knockout victory over Attila Csereklye later that same year. He triumphed in all of his initial 14 fights before suffering consecutive defeats to James Flint in 2024, reports the Express.
He was outscored on both occasions and took a break from the ring before appointing his father as his trainer in March. However, just four months later, it was announced that he was retiring from boxing with immediate effect.
The news was shared by Ricky on behalf of his son, who had been dealing with a personal tragedy away from the public eye.
“No, Campbell won’t fight again,” he told Boxing Now. “As you know, he didn’t have much amateur experience. He gave it a go in the amateurs, and then he went pro and gave it a go. He fought for the Area title and got beaten.
“I thought he lost it to be fair, but then he fought the same lad straight away after. I thought he won the second one. They were both very close fights.
“But he lost a little bit of his mojo, and then a few things went wrong. Sadly, he lost one of his best friends, Justin, who passed away at 27 years of age.”

At the time, Ricky paid tribute to Campbell’s friend Justin on Instagram, writing: “What a send off today for our friend & Campbell’s best friend Justin.
“The love his mates, friends, family & everyone who ever came across this young man was there to see today. In the droves. Far too young to leave us. Campbell got up to say a few words & his speech was touching & got me.
“You done so well to get it out son. I know how much you loved him. Also to hear the readings from his sister & & all his mates & then his dad Alan who passed away the week after Justin was also a tough one for everyone to listen too.
“The family have to go through it all next week with Alan’s passing. Very tough for the family but I know you’ll do it & everyones behind you. Love with the family today. Justin R.I.P son. Ricky. X.”
