Those who watch the ITV soap have been discussing the character of Chas Dingle, who has been played by Lucy Pargeter since 2002.

With storylines ranging from her turbulent relationship with Carl King (Tom Lister), to becoming a prime suspect in the murder of Tom King (Ken Farrington), fans have experienced the character go through plenty.

However, despite once being loved by many fans, plenty have been saying how much the character has gone down in their estimation.

Emmerdale fans share disliking for ‘unbearable’ Chas Dingle

A post on the r/Emmerdale Reddit page said: “I used to love Chas, she was one of my faves for years – why has she become such an unbearable k***head?”

Fans were quick to reply, with many agreeing and believing the reason was to do with her character’s relationship with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).

One said: “I have to agree. She was in my top five characters, but the writers have morphed her into a bitter shrew.

“NEVER could I imagine why they paired her with Al who was evil and did so much harm to her family. That she could think of taking Eve from Paddy was just so out of character after losing Faith.”

Another Emmerdale fan said: “I can’t stand her, not anymore. I don’t want to sound violent but she’s got a slappable face on that scene in the Woolpack.

“I can’t wait for her to eat humble pie once she realises how very wrong she was and that by now she should know Robert a lot better.”

A third wrote: “They ruined her character with Al, gave her breast cancer to try and redeem her, but haven’t actually given her any character development to make her likeable.”
