John Cartwright has revealed that Hull FC half-back Cade Cust is ‘carrying a bit of an injury’ and is a doubt for Thursday’s clash against Catalans Dragons.

The half-back has had known issues with his hip this season and has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks. A call will be made at Wednesday’s captain’s run.

Elsewhere, Yusuf Aydin and Amir Bourouh are back and available to face the Dragons. The pair missed last week’s victory over Warrington Wolves due to suspension.

On the injury front, Sam Eseh is also out after failing his HIA last week. The prop was hit high by Warrington back rower Lachlan Fitzgibbon, who has been suspended for two games.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Cartwright said: “Custy is carrying a little bit of an injury right now, so we’ll have to check on his fitness. We also lose Sam Eseh through head protocols. But Amir is back available so we’ve got options there, which is great. Yusuf will also be available.

“We’re right down to the bones there in the middle, so Yusuf being back is great. He has been great for us all year – he’s a workaholic. I was worried about him not being there last week, just with the amount of work that he does, but as has been most of the time this year, the next man up has done a great job for us. Gards (Will Gardiner) last week did a fantastic job for us.

“We’ll have a chat about what we think we can do with the team but it’s limited preparation this week – we won’t really know until the captain’s run on Wednesday.”

As well as Eseh, Hull also remain without Will Pryce, Ed Chamberlain, Herman Ese’ese, Ligi Sao, Jed Cartwright, Liam Knight, Will Hutchinson, and Roman Dawson to injury. Jordan Rapana and Jack Ashworth remain suspended.
