Emmerdale’s Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) have tied the knot at last as the happy couple exchanged their vows and looked to the future.

In typical ITV soap fashion, the wedding was not without a hitch or two (so to speak), with Vinny vanishing just hours before proceedings could get underway.

The groom-to-be had bravely headed to the police station, where he reported his ordeal at the hands of Mike.

As viewers know, Vinny has been questioning his sexuality ever since he attempted to kiss best mate Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah).

He resolved to seek help from an LGBTQ+ forum, where he met the aforementioned Mike, who claimed he was similarly confused about his sexuality after developing feelings for his best friend.

Mike, however, turned out to be a thug who preyed on confused forum users as he recorded Vinny’s private conversations, beat him up in a violent attack and blackmailed thousands out him.

Kammy, who received the blame for the attack on Vinny, encouraged his mate to reveal his ordeal to the police but Vinny was adamant that no-one could know.

However, the situation changed when Mike got wind of Vinny’s wedding approaching and demanded more money, vowing to out him at the reception if he didn’t comply.

Unwilling to live in fear any longer, Vinny bravely reported Mike on the morning of the wedding. After detailing the ordeal to the police, Vinny exited the police station, where he saw Mike being taken in for questioning, having been arrested.

Meanwhile back at the church, Gabby broke down in tears, fearing Vinny had abandoned her at the altar. When he showed up, Vinny explained that he took a detour to have a locket made with a picture of Ashley (John Middleton) – Gabby’s beloved father – made for her big day.

In emotional scenes, Vinny and Gabby got married and, upon heading back to their house, they shared their first dance together.

Don’t you just love a happy ending?

Having said that, it’s best we don’t get ahead of ourselves where happiness is concerned, as this is Emmerdale we’re talking about and drama is always around the corner.

Next week, Vinny is alarmed to receive a letter which leaves him with quite the dilemma. If he testifies against Mike then he’ll successfully stop anyone else from getting hurt and scammed like he was but doing so will mean that Gabby would likely uncover the truth.

And Vinny isn’t the only one hiding a big secret, as confirmed on-screen this week, as Gabby has one of her own.

Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) gets wind of it next week and she’s horrified by Gabby’s plan is to take it to her grave. 

Just what is Gabby hiding? And will it spell the end for her and Vinny? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, she resolves to get the ball rolling on Vinny adopting Thomas.
