The Fairport Harbor Police Department said the community book box at the end of Vine Street near the beach was vandalized sometime between 9 a.m. and noon on Sept. 16.
The vandalism was reported soon in the afternoon, according to FHPD.
The pages of numerous books were torn out and scattered down the beach access ramp, FHPD said, and some of the damaged books were stuffed back into the little library.

“This book box is cared for by Friends of the Library, a volunteer group that works hard to bring something positive to our village,” FHPD stated. “Acts like this not only damage property but also take away from a resource meant for everyone to enjoy.”
Call FHPD at 440-354-3434 if you say anything unusual in the area on Tuesday morning, or know who the vandal may be.
“Let’s work together to keep our community spaces safe and respected,” FHPD urged.
