There were rather chaotic scenes in Whitley Bay on Monday night, when Katie Price turned up more than TWO hours late for her show with Kerry Katona at the Playhouse, leaving her co-star to go on stage solo, after the start time had already been delayed. And when Katie did eventually turn up, people in the audience claim the performance was marred by sound issues.

There was a lot of intrigue when it was announced earlier in the year that the close showbiz pals would be hitting the road together, to shared candid insights into their lives and careers, before it was then reported that ex I’m A Celebrity contestant and tabloid regular Katie had pulled out of the nationwide due to her childcare commitments and her ‘very busy schedule.’ The situation was eventually resolved and the 38 date tour very much back on, with some shows rescheduled and it kicking off in Fleetwood earlier on this month, before the pair then entertained audiences in New Brighton, Ellesmere Port and Lincoln.

Shortly after the venue confirmed stage times for the show on Monday afternoon, a now deleted post went out on the Katie and Kerry On Tour Instagram page, to announce that the show would instead be starting at 8 rather than 7.30pm, due to ‘technical difficulties’ beyond organisers’ control.

The statement added that the 30 minute delay would help ‘bring the best show possible’ to Whitley Bay, however, even by 8pm Katie was nowhere to be seen, with Kerry coming on stage on her own and Katie, who was still in a car heading to the venue, appearing via video call on a big screen so she was still able to listen in and answer some questions, albeit with a slight delay.

According to someone who was in the audience, Katie told fans that she’d be there by a very precise 9.18pm, but it ended up being 20 minutes later that she finally made her entrance, with her arriving on stage singing one of her own songs, I Got U and explaining that her lateness was due to needing to be at home for son Harvey. Someone in the crowd told The Chronicle that the sound was “very quiet” and “unclear” throughout, with things wrapping up around 10.20pm with a rendition of Atomic Kitten classic Whole Again, before fans who bought Meet and Greet tickets got to meet Katie and Kerry.

People went into the comments of the now deleted Instagram post to say they were ‘disappointed’ at how things turned out, with some having to leave before the end so they wouldn’t miss their transport home. Others said they still managed to enjoy themselves and praised Kerry particularly, after she took charge of things. ChronicleLive have reached out to the Playhouse for a response.

The duo are due to perform at the Billingham Forum on Tuesday, with Katie’s frantic trip to get back to the North East, coming just days after she was in Newcastle city centre to attend Chloe Ferry’s 30th birthday party at the Royal Station Hotel. And Kerry is due back in the region in 2026 to lead the cast of ABBA show Here We Go Again in Sunderland.
