McLaren Racing, a British Formula 1 team, has announced a new partnership with Motul, a global company specialising in the formulation, production, and distribution of high-performance lubricants.

With this deal, the brand has become the team’s official supplier of the McLaren Formula 1 Team. Motul will provide high-performance transmission lubricants to the McLaren Formula 1 Team beginning with the 2026 season and thereafter.

Motul is a widely recognised brand that shares the McLaren Formula 1 Team’s dedication to providing the greatest level of technical performance. Motul and McLaren share a commitment to quality and a distinguished history in their respective areas, with innovation at the heart of both companies.

Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Racing, said, “We are delighted to welcome Motul to the McLaren Formula 1 Team. Motul has a proud history of innovation and technical excellence, attributes that closely mirror our own legacy. We look forward to working together in this exciting partnership.”

Andreea Culcea, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Motul, said, “This partnership with McLaren marks Motul’s return to Formula 1, a discipline where we have written some of the most exhilarating moments of our history. This is a great opportunity to combine both of our expertise in the pursuit of performance and innovation. We are particularly proud that our fluids contribute to the outstanding performance of one of the most prestigious racing teams in the world.”

This collaboration has been precisely scheduled to coincide with the 2026 regulatory transition in Formula 1. It demonstrates McLaren’s intention to innovate across all performance margins rather than simply compete. Motul’s knowledge might provide them a competitive advantage in drivetrain optimization, an important consideration as teams prepare for more electrically integrated power units. It’s a clever, technologically advanced move that accords with McLaren’s long-term objectives.
