People across the Midlands have been left heartbroken after the tragic death of ‘Tamworth’s warrior’ aged just 28 today.

Loving tributes flooded in for Mitch Middleton – who sadly ‘lost his battle’ with brain cancer in the early hours of this morning, September 17.

Mitch, a much-loved boyfriend, son, brother and friend, was praised for his strength, ‘big heart’ and for making others laugh even in his darkest time. Those who never even met him also spoke of their sadness after following his fight to survive via GoFundMe.

His story touched thousands across the UK, with nearly £250,000 raised for private life-saving cancer therapy. But the goal of £500,000 was not reached.

His girlfriend Amelia today shared his final words – in which he thanked those who donated – as she confirmed the sad news of his death.

On his Facebook page, she wrote: “This morning, Mitchell unfortunately lost his battle, and peacefully passed away with myself and his loved ones by his side at 2.12am September 17, 2025.

“I think we can all agree, Mitchell brought nothing but laughter and joy to all of our lives, and life will never be the same without him.”

Clare Lea wrote to her social media: “I’m absolutely heartbroken. He became Tamworth’s warrior and found the strength to take on the NHS and fight for his life and for that he will never be forgotten.

“You have all become our family & we love you all so much and have prayed everyday for a miracle. I’m so so sorry.

“Mitch, you have given so many people the strength to say NO I’m not ready, I’m going to fight with every inch of my body and Mitch you certainly did my love. Rest now my love.”

“Underneath all his jokes, he had the biggest heart — and he didn’t deserve this. I love this lad so much, my heart’s truly broken.”

Elaine Fox commented: “I’m very sad to hear about Mitch’s passing, my thoughts love and prayers to you his family and his friends.

“The strength of his character and the courage he showed throughout the whole process was one to be admired and totally respected. Mitch you have touched the hearts of everyone around you and even those you hadn’t met.”
