In Spain, the PS5 Is Starting to Outsell the Switch 2 Again 1Image: Push Square

Many of PlayStation’s most passionate fans live in Europe, and the region’s always been a bit of a stranglehold for Sony.

Now, according to an episode of Spanish podcast Vandal Radio, as translated by ResetEra, the PS5 is beginning to assert its dominance over the Switch 2 following the Nintendo format’s launch earlier in the year.

The podcast claims that the PS5 outsold the Switch 2 throughout August, and that this trend has continued into September thus far. As far as we understand it, stock of the Nintendo machine is readily available in the region.

In terms of physical software sales, games like Cronos: The New Dawn are performing much better on PS5 than Switch 2 as well, although this is to be expected considering the much larger install base of Sony’s system at this point. It’s always worth adding that most games are purchased digitally these days.

Of course, while Spain is a moderately large market in Europe, it may not be indicative of the global picture.

We’ll need to await much more sales data from around the world before jumping to any firm conclusions.
