Swoop, Moose Mobile and NodeOne customers receive speed boosts up to 400% supported by new router technology

Major NBN speed upgrades are now available for eligible customers, with fixed wireless and wholesale network infrastructure provider Swoop Holdings Limited (ASX:SWP) and its telecommunications brands Swoop, Moose Mobile, and NodeOne delivering free speed increases at no extra cost, one of the first RSPs to offer the upgrades to its existing and new customers.

The upgrades, enabled by NBN Co’s infrastructure enhancements, see eligible customers on FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) and HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) networks receiving automatic speed increases with minimal effort or no extra cost required. Thanks to extensive enhancements to Swoop’s technology platform – particularly the focus on automation – NBN service activations are now completed and online in under five minutes, delivering a seamless and rapid experience for our customers. This was strategically aligned to the NBN speed uplift launch.

To maximise the effectiveness of these new speeds, Swoop Holdings has also launched the eero 7 router at the cheapest price point in the market, designed to deliver the enhanced performance customers need to fully utilise their upgraded connections.

Key speed improvements include:

100/20 Mbps plans upgraded to 500/50 Mbps
100/40 Mbps plans increased to 250/100 Mbps (Swoop’s proactive upgrade in good faith to support customers, not an NBN initiated change)
250/25 Mbps plans boosted to 750/50 Mbps
1000/50 Mbps plans enhanced to 1000/100 Mbps

The upgrades address growing demand for high-speed internet as Australian households increasingly rely on multiple connected devices for remote work, streaming, gaming and smart home applications. The average Australian household on the NBN network downloads about eight times more than it did a decade ago, but that number is projected to double again in the next seven to eight years.*

“I’m thrilled to announce these automatic upgrades for our customers. They’re now enjoying significantly better performance without paying more,” said Alex West, CEO of Swoop Telecommunications Pty Ltd. We’ve delivered free speed increases to our most popular plans at a time when the average household has around 25 connected devices, a number projected to rise to 44 by 2030. These upgrades are a game changer for removing barriers to digital participation and ensuring everyone can make the most of online opportunities.”

The speed increases provide tangible benefits across different user needs. Remote workers experience improved video call quality and faster file uploads, while gaming enthusiasts benefit from quicker downloads. Streaming households can enjoy buffer-free viewing across multiple devices simultaneously, and smart home users can run more connected devices without performance degradation.*

The eero 7 router was initially launched as an early access pre-order for existing customers on August 26, before becoming available across all Swoop Holdings brands on September 15. The company has developed comprehensive educational resources, including video content and detailed FAQs, to help customers maximise the benefits of their speed upgrades and new router technology, like parental controls and True Mesh software.

Eligible customers on FTTP and HFC networks have already received the automatic upgrades. For customers on other NBN technologies, Swoop and Moose Mobile are promoting NBN Co’s $0 fibre upgrade program, which may allow qualifying premises to access fibre infrastructure at no cost.

“Digital equity shouldn’t depend on your postcode or income,” West continued. “By passing on NBN Co’s speed improvements directly to customers and supporting the transition to fibre where possible, we’re helping bridge the digital divide that still exists across Australia.”

The announcement comes as Australia continues its transition toward higher-speed broadband infrastructure, with NBN Co investing billions in network upgrades to support future digital demands including 8K streaming, virtual reality applications, and emerging technologies requiring substantial bandwidth.
