There was welcome news for racing enthusiasts with just days to go before the start of the 2025 Listowel Harvest Festival following the announcement that four-time UK champion flat jockey Oisín Murphy is to ride at next week’s meeting.
Murphy is in scintillating form at present as he closes in on a fifth jockeys’ championship title in the UK. Murphy currently leads by 38 wins over nearest challenger, Billy Loughnane.
The Killarney native last rode at the Harvest Festival in 2023 when teaming up with trainer Pat O’Donnell to win The Kelleher Feeds & Agri Suppliers Ballymullen Tralee Handicap with Dragon Of Malta (100/30).
The date for Murphy’s Listowel reappearance has yet to be finalised. The seven-day Listowel Harvest Festival starts this Sunday, September 21.
Murphy has so far ridden 24 winners in September including a four timer on two occasions at Kempton and Doncaster.
