A man in his 30s has been arrested and released on bail as enquiries continue into the rape of a woman in her 20s

The Sikh community has offered a £10,000 reward for anyone who helps bring the Oldbury rapists to justice.

The large sum will be given as a reward for information leading to the arrest and “successful conviction” of the two men involved in the attack last week.

The victim, understood to be a British-born Sikh woman aged in her 20s, was subjected to a racially aggravated attack in the Tame Road area just before 8.30am, on Tuesday, September 9.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of rape, and was bailed pending further enquiries.

The Sikh Federation UK said: “The Sikh community has in response to the man being arrested on suspicion of rape being bailed without charge has now put out its own appeal, and put up a reward of £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of the two men involved.

“Sikh media are also carrying the appeal and information about the reward on community television.” The community urged anyone with information to call West Midlands Police on 101 anytime.

Police have also today issued a fresh appeal for information, urging anyone who was in the area at the “key time” to get in touch.

“The victim, a young woman in her 20s, is at the heart of our enquiries and we continue to support her and keep her updated on developments.

“Last Sunday, we arrested a man in his 30s, on suspicion of rape; he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

“We again appeal to anyone in the area where we are today who may have seen two white men around the time of 8.30am. One had a shaved head and a heavy build and was reported to be wearing a dark coloured sweatshirt and had gloves on. The second man was reportedly wearing a grey top with a silver zip”
