Colin Farrell reflected on the prospects of a team-up between the Penguin and Harley Quinn after Margot Robbie expressed her interest in it. Notably, she portrayed Harley Quinn in several DC Extended Universe (DCEU) projects. Meanwhile, Farrell essayed the role of Oswald “Oz” Cobb / The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga franchise. The two Oscar nominees have worked together in the romantic fantasy feature A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which premieres in US theaters on September 19, 2025.

The Banshees of Inisherin star spoke about whether a potential team-up between the Penguin and Harley Quinn at the premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Back in August 2025, Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie spoke on whether a Penguin and Harley Quinn crossover can happen during an interview with Variety. The Barbie actress suggested that the outlet should ask James Gunn about it before declaring that the Penguin and Harley Quinn would be a “hot” and “demented” couple. At the time, Farrell didn’t seem to agree with the first adjective.

Farrell apparently hasn’t changed his opinion on this. When recently asked by Entertainment Tonight about Robbie’s crossover comment and that the characters would make a “hot couple,” the 49-year-old actor responded, “I can’t imagine that. That’s for the Penguin’s Perspective.”

Answering a question about whether Margot Robbie could join the Batman universe, Colin Farrell noted, “I don’t think what she meant by crossover is what you received.”

The interviewer then enquired what the Penguin and Harley Quinn hanging out together would look like. This prompted Farrell to state that it would be a “blast.” He added that some of his favorite scenes on the HBO series The Penguin were the ones in which Oz and Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Gigante (née Falcone) were “pals.” Farrell said that he was sure that the experience of sharing the screen with Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be similar.
