Kevin Ryan has become synonymous with the Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup, having plundered it five times since 2007, and he bids to equal the modern-day record of six triumphs held by David Nicholls, who almost monopolised the race during the first ten years of this century with the likes of Continent (2001) and dual winner Funfair Wane (2002 and 2004).
Hambleton-based Ryan has long recognised the importance of Ayr’s Western meeting to trainers in the north.
