Champion Hurdle runner-up Burdett Road is being aimed at the BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle for his seasonal reappearance and will be the headline act in an exciting team of winter jumpers for James Owen.
The trainer said the five-year-old, who finished nine lengths behind Golden Ace at the Cheltenham Festival, could warm up on the Flat before a possible clash with The New Lion and Constitution Hill at Newcastle on November 29.
East India Dock also went close at last season’s festival when third in the Triumph Hurdle behind 100-1 shot Poniros, but he will remain on the Flat. He is 8-1 second favourite for the Cesarewitch next month and could take a step towards that in the Listed Rose Bowl (4.10) at Newmarket on Thursday.
