New rumors have emerged regarding the future of Hailee Steinfeld’s MCU character and the Young Avengers.
Steinfeld plays Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, a character who made their MCU debut in 2021’s Hawkeye. She has since had a cameo in 2023’s The Marvels — a movie that included a tease for a future superhero team-up project — while she also voices Kate in What If…? and the upcoming Marvel Zombies series.
What is the update on Kate Bishop and the Young Avengers’ MCU future?
When asked if the Young Avengers/Champions will be appearing in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus replied, “Insert scared Hailee Steinfeld nod here.”
Perez was also asked about the Champions television show. In March 2025, Nexus Point News reported that Rachna Fruchbom had been tapped to write a Champions series, though there hasn’t been much news about the project since then.
“I want to start by saying that I trust Nexus Point News’ reporting, and they’ve been very accurate as of late, so no need to doubt what they say,” Perez said. “Additionally, yeah, the Young Avengers project is very much a thing. I don’t know if it’s the one that will be airing in 2027. But that they’ll link up, they will.”
Perez further said that Steinfeld and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will have equal amounts of screen time in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, as they’re “co-leaders of the team.” Having said that, he also said Kate will “be one of the main heavy hitters of the next saga as a leader of the Young Avengers.”
According to Perez, the third person that Kamala and Kate recruit for the Champions/Young Avengers will be Cassie Lang, played by Kathryn Newton in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
This is all just a rumor at this time that should be taken with a grain of salt. There’s been no official announcement from Marvel that Steinfeld or Vellani will appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars as of yet.
