Coleen Rooney has shared a hilarious update after Wayne Rooney explained why he locked her out the house. The happy couple have been married since 2008 and are the proud parents of four children.
Former footballer Rooney is a Premier League legend as he shot to stardom at his boyhood club Everton before he signed for Manchester United and became the club’s record goalscorer. The 39-year-old has launched a podcast with the BBC for this season and has been sharing many stories from his life away from the game.
A clip in the latest episode has revealed how him and Coleen are divided when it comes to football club allegiances. I’m A Celebrity star Coleen hails from a family of Liverpool supporters and took the opportunity to celebrate when the Reds won the Premier League trophy in 2019/20.
Former Plymouth Argyle manager Rooney said on the latest episode of the podcast: “When they won the Premier League a few years ago, I come home and Coleen has got Liverpool flags up on the outside of the house.
“It was our old house, so outside the front door was a balcony thing and the flag was outside the window there. I told her to go up and get it down. She went up and you actually had to climb out the window to get it down. So she went up so I locked her out. Not too long, but she was stuck on the balcony.”
Coleen has re-shared the clip on her socials and shared an image of her taking the banner down from their house.

Fans were in stitches after the exchange as they joked: “Divorce her now, Wayne! Unforgivable!” Another follower named Marie joked: “I can’t believe Coleen caved to Wayne’s demand. I hope she wore LFC pyjamas to bed that night.”
Nina said: “This is sensational banter.” Andrew added: “Brilliant Coleen.”
Dash shared: “No way didn’t know that” Lisa posted: “That’s ace.”
Wayne has shared many funny exchanges on life with Coleen since he launched the podcast this season. He described a “boss night” he and Coleen had at a McDonald’s drive thru in Las Vegas while on their honeymoon in a previous episode.
In the podcast episode, which aired on Friday, August 22, Wayne described how the couple had been to a bar which was also being attended by the US Olympic basketball team. However, in photos of the night Coleen noticed something in her hair.
Wayne said: “Me and Coleen were in Las Vegas for our honeymoon, which I know is a bit strange, Vegas for our honeymoon. The US Olympic basketball team come into this bar where we were and it was all cornered off, so they’re all there like Kobe Bryant was there, LeBron.
“So because I spoke to them a few times, I went over to say hello and the security went ‘please step away from the table, sir’. So anyway, we took all the pictures, and just pictures of me and Coleen in general through the night and I don’t know whether it was my fault or her fault but every picture she had a straw stuck in her hair.”
The couple decided to end the night with some food, however found an obstacle in their way when they arrived at McDonald’s.
The fast-food restaurant was closed to walk-ins but the drive-thru remained open, and this didn’t stop the newlyweds.
They decided to grab a trolley and go through the drive-thru in-between cars.
Wayne added: “Well I took her that night, I think it was, to McDonald’s. It was about 7am and as we’re going, the McDonald’s was closed, so you could only go through the drive-thru.
“I was pushing – it sounds a bit mad – I was pushing her in a shopping trolley. And so you have a car in front, you’ve got me and Coleen in the shopping trolley and a car behind us.”
Asked if he and Coleen were sober, Wayne replied it was a “boss night”. Wayne and Coleen married on June 12, 2008 in Italy, with a ceremony in Santa Margherita Ligure with around 60 friends and family members attending the ceremony.
