Pakistan faces India in the Asia Cup Super 4 amid off-field chaos and criticism from K Srikkanth, who called them a seventh-division team under coach Mike Hesson.

Pakistan will be under immense pressure when they face India in their first Super 4 fixture in the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday evening Dubai. Both teams squared off last week where India posted a commanding victory. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s batting has been exposed on multiple occasions with the likes of Oman and the UAE troubling them in the group stage matches.
Sunday’s rematch against India will put Pakistan in a spot, especially after the dram they created since facing the arch-rivals last week. Their performance has taken a back seat with full focus on the off-field chaos. On the other hand, the former cricketers – be it from Pakistan or India – have been condemning the men in green for their lack of intent in the cricket field.
Former India opener K Srikkanth has slammed the Pakistan team for failing to challenge their opponents. In his latest YouTube video, Srikkanth labelled them a ‘seventh-division team’.
“Going forward, Pakistan shouldn’t be playing with the main teams. Have them among the Associate nations and bring a few of the others there here. It’s a big thing for Pakistan that they are even allowed to play in such a prestigious tournament,” said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel.
“Pakistan should be removed from the top seven. From hereon, India-Pakistan matches won’t attract crowds. India-Pakistan rivalry has become history. This Pakistan team will give us no scare. This is a seventh division team in a Chennai league,” Srikkanth added.
Srikkanth also expressed that Pakistan are heading in the wrong direction under head coach Mike Hesson. The latter, who previously had long tenures as head coach of the New Zealand cricket team and later with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, was appointed Pakistan’s head coach in May 2025.
“Mike Hesson will be back with his statements on how they are a very good team and they were unlucky in the last match against India. You’ll go nowhere with Mike Hesson as your coach,” Srikkanth further added.
