Tulsa King looms, filling the air with a cloud of cigar smoke.

The series has proven a massive hit for Paramount+, thanks to the talent both behind and in front of the camera. It stars Sylvester Stallone in his first leading role in a scripted series and was created by Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan, who has constructed the series alongside showrunners Terence Winter (The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire) and Dave Erickson (Sons of Anarchy, Mayor of Kingstown).

For two seasons, Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi, a Mafia caporegime tasked with setting up a criminal enterprise in Tulsa, has made plenty of friends and even more enemies in his quest to become king. Season 3, which premieres on Sept. 21, is set to complicate matters further, with a slew of new allies, adversaries, and double-crossers for Dwight to navigate.

Now, get yourself acquainted with the ever-growing ensemble of Tulsa King, including newcomers like legendary badasses Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Patrick.

Sylvester Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi on ‘Tulsa King’

Sylvester Stallone is one of the more compelling Hollywood success stories. He broke through his early struggles to find work as an actor by writing and starring in Rocky (1976), a smashing success that not only nabbed him two Academy Award nominations but also became the first of multiple Stallone-starring franchises.

Thus far, the Rocky franchise comprises six core films (1976–2006), as well as three films in the Creed spinoff series (2015–2023) starring Michael B. Jordan. Stallone received a third Oscar nomination for his reprisal of Rocky Balboa in 2015’s Creed.

He struck gold again with the Rambo (1982–2019) and Expendables (2010–2023) series, and cemented himself as an action icon with hits such as Cobra (1986), Tango & Cash (1989), and Cliffhanger (1993). Also essential? His soulful leading role in James Mangold’s Cop Land (1997).

He continues to write and produce projects — such as co-writing David Ayer’s 2025 action flick A Working Man — and also made his reality TV debut with The Family Stallone (2023–2024).

The actor leads Tulsa King as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who moves to Tulsa to build a new criminal empire after serving a 25-year prison sentence.

“He’s expecting to be rewarded for being a good soldier. Instead, he gets shipped out unceremoniously to Tulsa, Oklahoma, which for him might as well be another planet,” season 1 showrunner Terence Winter told EW in 2022. “He’s also kind of out of a time capsule. He went away in 1997 when the internet was just getting started and before cell phones were rampant and before Uber. So he’s really a guy who’s out of time.”

Garrett Hedlund as Mitch Keller on ‘Tulsa King’

Garrett Hedlund was just 19 when he made his feature film debut opposite Brad Pitt in Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy (2004). He soon worked with acclaimed filmmakers like Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights), John Singleton (Four Brothers), and James Wan (Death Sentence).

His charmed career continued with leading roles in Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy (2010), Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken (2014), and Dee Rees’ Oscar-nominated Mudbound (2017), as well as an enigmatic supporting turn in the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).

He’s since found a home in the TV realm of Sheridan, appearing as both ex-rodeo star Mitch “The Stick” Keller on Tulsa King and in a supporting role on Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023).

Speaking with USA Today in July 2025, Hedlund said that season 3 of the Tulsa King would be its “darkest” yet, adding, “We’re keeping the stakes high. At the end of the day, most of these guys are — or have been, or will be — killers. That makes for interesting drama.”

Frank Grillo as Bill Bevilaqua on ‘Tulsa King’

Frank Grillo is one of Hollywood’s go-to tough guys, a fierce and muscular performer whose eyes nevertheless reveal a vulnerability.

Grillo is a veteran of both the Marvel and DC universes. He previously played Brock Rumlow, a.k.a. Crossbones, in the MCU (2014–2023), and now stars in James Gunn’s DC Universe as Rick Flag Sr., with appearances on Creature Commandos (2024–present), Superman (2025), and Peacemaker season 2 (2025).

Grillo debuted in season 2 of Tulsa King as Bill Bevilaqua, the head of the Bevilaqua crime family of Kansas City. Hedlund told USA Today that Bevilaqua’s relationship with Dwight is the “spine” of season 3. “Sometimes to take over the whole world, two kings have to come together,” he said.

Robert Patrick as Dunmire in ‘Tulsa King’ season 3

Robert Patrick exudes authority and menace, something he proved quite handily in his Hollywood breakthrough as T-1000, the shapeshifting villain of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991).

Here, Patrick plays Dunmire, the patriarch of an old-money family that made their fortune in liquor. Per the official synopsis, Dunmire “doesn’t play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he’s built and protect his family.”

As Hedlund put it to USA Today, Patrick brings “command and authority that hasn’t been seen in a Tulsa King nemesis.”
