According to John Stewart from Pelsis UK, the most effective way to deter mice is to make your home as unappealing as possible, especially in the colder months.
He explained: “During the winter, mice seek shelter indoors, often drawn by easily accessible food. Homeowners have several options for dealing with rodents, whether they prefer humane live-catch traps or traditional traps for quicker results.
“Humane solutions, such as indoor repellents are the most popular solution as they can deter rodents without harming them. These devices emit high-frequency sounds that are unpleasant to rodents but inaudible to humans.”

Equipped with ultrasonic technology, this device comes with three modes to deter a range of pests for making homes in your property. Simply plug the device into the wall and select which level you require.
One such product is the AMZ BRAND Ultrasonic Pest Repeller Two Pack, which is designed to deal with a wide variety of pests, such as rats, mice, ants and mosquitoes. Designed with fire-resistant and non-toxic ABS plastic, the device uses ultrasonic technology that can cover up to 280 square metres when used together.

Alternatively, B&Q is selling the Pestbye Advanced Whole House Rat and Mouse Repellent Ultrasonic Electromagnetic Repeller for £28.99. Able to cover up to 2000 square feet – approximately a four bedroom house – this device can be plugged in anywhere for a hassle-free experience.
Back to the AMZ Pest Repeller, it currently boasts a 4.1 star rating and has been bought by over 1,000 Amazon shoppers in the last 30 days.
One delighted shopper wrote: “I can honestly say, it has been an excellent purchase. It has done exactly what was expected. My garage is now mice-free! The item has not only got rid of the mice but has also prevented them from coming back! I will be keeping the repeller on full time in my garage.”
While another five-star reviewer added: “They have been plugged in for two weeks now, and still no sign of anything!! I’ve been told if you don’t see any sign of rats after a week, then they are pretty well away! Would definitely recommend these, good price, and easy to set up.”
