SEGA Trademarks Arcade Paradise Potentially Hinting at Compilation Bundle 1

There’s already a (very good) game called Arcade Paradise, but that hasn’t stopped SEGA from trademarking the name.

An application for the title was officially published on 19th September, and it’s got fans wondering if this will be some kind of retro compilation featuring the publisher’s back catalogue of arcade classics.

It’s possible this could be related to Nosebleed Interactive’s aforementioned laundry sim turned minigame compilation, but that game was published by Wired Productions in Japan already with a physical version printed by Soft Source.

Of course, you may recall SEGA delisted a ton of classic games from digital storefronts late last year, sparking speculation it may be exploring new ways to redistribute its retro releases.

Japanese developer Hamster Corporation has had incredible success repackaging Namco’s classic arcade games recently as part of its Arcade Archives selection, including the likes of Ridge Racer.

Similarly, M2 ported a handful of classic SEGA arcade games to the Nintendo Switch, including the excellent Virtua Racing.

We know the publisher has four unannounced titles to show at Tokyo Game Show this week, with Yakuza Kiwami 3 likely to be among them. Could Arcade Paradise be among the lineup?

RGG Studio, the team behind the Yakuza games, is holding a broadcast 12PM JST on Wednesday, 24th September – the day prior to the Tokyo Game Show.

The studio has already emulated several of SEGA’s classic arcade games within the Yakuza franchise, so we can’t help but wonder if it’s planning to flesh all of that out as a fully featured standalone game.

All will hopefully be revealed later this week.
